Studying with children

The family-friendly university supports measures related to family-oriented study, working and living conditions. Students with children face special challenges when it comes to coordinating being a parent on the one hand and fulfilling the tasks related to being a student on the other hand.

The difficulty of balancing the demands of learning and taking care of a family is also taken into consideration when it comes to support by the Deutschlandstipendium scholarship programme.

On the pages “Studying with children” we would like to give you some information about offers made by Kempten University especially for students with children and we would also like to present in a transparent way the options available to organize your course of studies.

Please feel free to contact us personally.

Family parking spaces for students with children

Five family parking spaces with their own barriers are reserved for students with children so that they are in a position to better balance caring and study-related tasks.

The keys to unlock the barriers are given out in the first week of each semester (i.e. in March and October). Keys are given out to students on the basis of an allocation procedure. It is above all the frequency of lectures in the mornings in combination with family-related caring tasks that is decisive for the decision as to who receives a key or a parking space, respectively.

Please fill in the application form family parking spaces (in German only) and send it to the Office for Equal Opportunities and Family Affairs.

Kids' meals in the canteen

With kid’s meals, the student service organization Studentenwerk Augsburg provides uncomplicated support to students with children.

Upon presentation of the student card of one of the parents, children up to the age of 6 will receive a children’s lunch for free. For further information (in German only) click here or refer to the flyer.
