Pursuant to the Bavarian higher education institution act (Bayerisches Hochschulgesetz), tuition fees have been charged since the summer semester of 2007. Details on the collection and use of tuition fees by Kempten University of Applied Sciences are defined in the statutes and regulations available on the University website under ‘Amtl. Bekanntmachungen’.official notices” hinterlegt ist.
Fees are due from all students at the University. If you enrol at multiple HE institutions, the fees are payable for each unless the degree and examination regulations (Studien- und Prüfungsordnung) allow for matriculation at multiple institutions.
Special fees apply for visiting students and those attending professional development programmes.
Tuition fees at Kempten University of Applied Sciences are 400 euros per semester.
Groups consisting of equal numbers of student and University representatives decide on how the money is to be used. This gives students a direct right of co-determination on the allocation of tuition fees. The first two percent of total tuition fees collected goes to the security fund which is mandatory for all HE institutions, and six percent is currently used to cover fee collection and administration. 30 percent of the remaining funds are allocated to the central learning infrastructure and faculty-specific events and facilities, and 70 percent to the faculties in proportion to the number of students (defined as the number of students still within the standard course completion time).
Tuition fees are used exclusively to improve studying conditions. For example, they have in the past been invested in the following measures to improve general and advisory services at the University and to offer rapid and clear improvements in studying conditions:
The Governing Board submits a full report each year on the use of tuition fees to ensure the process is completely transparent.

In addition to tuition fees, a Student Services fee is also due from each student. This goes to the Student Services to enable them to carry out their work (grants and funding advisory service, canteen subsidy, contribution to hall development, etc.) and was 42 euros for the 2009/10 winter semester.
