    Aims and objectives: 

    The aim of this unit is to familiarise students with the special features of management activities in the international environment. They will learn about the management of business processes along an international supply chain and the foundations of international Supply Chain Management. 

    Students will learn how Supply Chain activities could be used as competitive advantage. Furthermore, they will be able to explain that Supply Chain performance is more important than its costs in terms of the success of a company.

    Another aim is to show the students how the different Supply Chain Management activities in terms of the chosen Strategy, Network Design, Marketing, Operation, Sourcing, Logistics, Quality and Inventory Management influence the logistics performance of a company and in connection with this the company success.

    General learning objectives:

    The MBA programme should provide all participants with a substantial knowledge of all relevant business areas and a holistic understanding of the value chain of a commercial company and how the different functions work together. They should have the insight how to organize and steer an organization.
    The participants of the MBA programme should gain particular knowledge about the approaches to manage the supply chain.
    Graduates are capable of developing and defining theory driven, but applied problem solutions for the different areas of international business management as well as applying their problem solutions to their business environment.
    They are enabled to analyse different markets and industries and to integrate this knowledge in their applied business solutions.

    • Differentiate between Logistics and Supply Chain Management
    • Explain customer service levels and performance measurement of a Supply Chains impact on company goals
    • Understand the information flow and architecture within Supply Chain Information Processes
    • Explain stock levels within the supply chain, collaboration aspects and apply material requirement calculation
    • Evaluate different options in terms of warehousing and transportation
    • Understand interfaces of a Supply Chain with other departments like sourcing, operation, logistics and marketing
    • Gain knowledge about international Supply Chain Management
