    Aims and objectives: 

    The research data are clear that the key competencies in defining superior managers and leaders are in the area of emotional intelligence. Managing others begins with self-management. By interweaving theoretical and practical steps, participants are guided through a hierarchy of graduated awareness and skill levels to an improved self-management competency, which then provides the foundation for the next level of emotional competency development the leadership of others. Participants will have the opportunity to personally assess their emotional intelligence with the EQ-I 2.0. With the report on their emotional competencies, they will then have the opportunity to develop an Individual Development Plan and vision for growing their emotional competencies. 

    General learning objectives:

    Participants understand the value to an orgaization of the human resources and how their performance is largely determined by their emotional intelligence.
    Participants analyze their work/life balance and are capable of being self-reflective on how their needs, wants and values influence their self-perception and their leadership behavior.
    Through a series of subjective and objective assessments, participants gain an insight into their existing competency levels and how those competency levels have influenced their life.
    With this insight, participants have the opportunity to create an Individual Development Plan to develop a key competency that will move them towards their vision of their competency potential.
    Participants begin developing a set of personal skills that allow them to manage their emotions and develop an emotional work-life balance and a feeling of satisfaction and happiness.
    Through their own insight, participants begin the consciousness shift from the "normal cultural" identification with their performance to the experience of the "observing perspective" of the performer. This then forms the basic leadership consciousness necessary for reality based, results oriented leadership.
    Participants begin understanding how to be authentic in their behavior as a leader and member of a business organization based on their awareness of their personality.
    Graduates are convinced that that being a “good leader” (being empathic, supportive & motivating) helps to achieve the job related needs & goals of their team members, the business objectives of their companies and their personal work and life goals.

    1. Introduction to emotional intelligence in the workplace 

    • Definitions and history on emotions in the workplace 
    • Emotional intelligence as a primary management competency
    • Introduction of an Emotional Quality Management System 

    2. Participant assessment of: 

    • Career needs
    • Abilities and limitations 
    • Values 

    3. Development of a balanced and centered self identity

    • Understanding stress and how to release it
    • Gaining an observing perspective on thoughts and their influence on identity and behavior
    • Developing an experience of being centered and grounded

    4. Individual emotional competency assessment utilizing the EQ-I 2.0.

    • Debriefing of the Workplace Report illustrating current competency levels
    • Analysis of the emotional competencies supporting the 3 leadership orientations and behavioral pillars

    5. Stages of Personal Development

    • Explanation of the Stages of Personal Development along with examples of strategies and dangers

    6. Developing an Individual Development Plan

    • Review of the steps of an Individual Development Plan
    • Completing the steps of a personal Individual Development Plan utilizing a template

    7. Utilizing the IDP as a vision for daily motivation and guidance in competency development

    • Development of a daily plan of action steps towards competeny development
