You will learn about and understand the networked systems behind robots. Complex robotic systems in both industry and the service sector can only be achieved by linking engineering sciences with applied computer science – and that’s right where you come in.

Details about this course
On the basis of core STEM subjects comprising modules in mathematics, electrical engineering, mechanics and the like, we will teach you the essentials of engineering combined with computer science. The firm focus throughout is on the application of knowledge. This is reflected in the high proportion of projects from the second semester on, giving you the chance to consolidate the theoretical subjects you’ve covered and and apply your acquired knowledge hands-on.
During the fourth and sixth semesters, you get to choose to compulsory elective modules that best suit your special interests, in which key aspects of applied computer science such as artificial intelligence and image processing come to the fore. The fifth semester is spent on your industrial placement, before majoring in either industrial robotics or geriatronics in the sixth. The seventh, and final, semester is devoted to writing your final thesis to qualify as a Bachelor of Engineering.
Incidentally, the collaboration arrangement with UAS Würzburg-Schweinfurt makes it possible to choose an alternative major during the 6th semester.
The digital revolution in manufacturing (aka “Industry 4.0” in Germany) and emergence of components with artificial intelligence (AI) have caused the demand for robots to skyrocket, in turn generating heavy long-term demand for academically trained robotics engineers. Besides careers directly in robotics, this degree programme also prepares you for interdisciplinary roles in computer science and electrical or mechanical engineering.

Entry to this degree programme is unrestricted. The basic admission requirement for this bachelor’s degree programme is general eligibility for university. This includes:

- Subject-specific university entrance certificate
- Advanced technical college certificate
- A recognised equivalent form of eligibility for admission
